Hiya! If you’ve shied away from recipes featuring créme fraîche because you’re not sure exactly what it is, or because it is just so darn expensive at the market, fear not. Now you can easily make your own at home!

But before I get to the actual prep which only requires 2 ingredients, let’s talk about what créme fraîche is and why you should use it. Basically, it’s French sour cream—only a little thicker and richer with less of that sour creamy tang. It’s absolutely delish! So don’t let the fancy name intimidate you!

Okey-dokey—onto the prep. All you do is mix heavy cream with a little buttermilk and let it sit out in a warm spot. anywhere from 12-24 hours until it ferments and thickens (not the most gorgeous pic but wanted you to have an idea of what you’re going for).

Yup, that’s it! Easy-peasy and done. After an overnight chill, you’re ready to go and créme fraîche the day away!

So go ahead and start the process, ‘cause I’ll be featuring a cake that uses this creamy concoction in the very near future and I just know you’re going to want to make it!!
